WHAT IS THE CARE TEAM?

Campus Assessment, Response, Evaluation

The Mission of the Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation (CARE) Team is to create and empower a culture of reporting on our campus. We provide educational opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to increase awareness of self-care, the importance of relationship building, and mental health awareness. In addition, we strive to provide early intervention for students, who may be struggling with grades, attendance, social interactions, withdrawn behavior, changes in appearance, changes in playing status, or other concerning behavior changes. Those referred will receive a connection with a supportive adult and will also receive long term follow up from the CARE Team, to ensure student success.

How do I refer an individual to the CARE Team?

Who can make a referral?

Anyone. Faculty, students, staff, or even members of the Aberdeen community.

 

Can I make a report about a faculty or staff member?

Yes. Staff and Faculty related referrals would be screened by the Campus Counselor and Human Resources, who work together to determine appropriate follow up.

 

Is my report confidential?

A member of the CARE Team will contact you about the referral and all members of the team will have your information, however, you can choose to keep your identity confidential from the referred individual. The members of the CARE Team all have an expectation of confidentiality with referrals and referring parties. Any report made related to Title IX will also be shared with the Title IX Coordinator.

 

Who is on the CARE Team?

A Faculty Chair, an Athletics Department Representative, a Student Services Representative, the Director of Campus Ministry, the Director of Student Life, and the Housing Coordinator.

 

How often does the CARE Team meet?

They have a standing weekly appointment to review referrals and to plan educational events.

 

Can I just email the Campus Counselor directly if I have a concern about someone?

Yes. You can always emailed the counselor directly. However, this provides the opportunity for students who may not want to see the counselor to have another intervention/connection with another support adult such as a professor, advisor, or other staff member. The team would work with that support adult and provide suggestions and guidance as to how to connect with that student-increasing the likelihood that the student/support adult would develop a strong relationship. The Campus Counselor may choose to direct you to the CARE Report Form so that all reporting is consistent.
