State Authorization
Postsecondary institutions that offer distance education across state lines must comply with the laws and regulations of each state outside of South Dakota. Presentation College has been a member of the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) since 2015, which centralizes the authorization process. NC-SARA allows member states to deliver distance education in other member states in accordance with membership policies. In addition to state authorization, state professional licensing boards often require that additional requirements be met before a student may become licensed in that state.
State Authorization affects all students who enroll in distance education courses or programs at Presentation College from outside the state of South Dakota. This includes online courses and programs, but also includes field experiences, practicums, internships, clinical experiences, etc.

Programs Leading to Professional Licensure
Some degree programs at Presentation College have been designed to meet the licensure requirements in South Dakota. Licensure boards in each state determine the requirements for licensure in their state. Distance students planning to practice in a state other than South Dakota should be aware of the unique requirements for that state. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to contact the Program Director for the major to which they are applying or transferring, prior to beginning coursework that would potentially lead to licensure to discuss the licensure requirements for the intended state.
