ABERDEEN, S.D.  — In partnership with the Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club, Presentation College is pleased to announce that “Shop with the Saints” will once again bring the true spirit of giving to local families this Christmas season! Thanks to the generous support of Wal-Mart and Eddie’s Northside Sinclair, more than 15 children from the Boys & Girls Club will spend a fun evening Christmas shopping with players from Presentation College’s basketball teams.

At 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, each child will receive a gift card to spend at Wal-Mart. With the guidance of a Men’s or Women’s basketball player, each child will choose holiday gifts for their parents and siblings. After they’ve checked off the names on their shopping lists, the kids and the college students will enjoy supper and treats provided by Wal-Mart and the staff of Eddie’s Northside Sinclair (“The Spirit Station”) with beverages from Pepsi of Aberdeen… while volunteers from Presentation College wrap and label all of the presents.

PC’s Development Director, Angela Dannenbring, said, “We are excited to host this special holiday celebration for children in the community. Because of the generous commitment from Wal-Mart, and support from the Boys & Girls Club Board, we were able to invite 18 kids to participate – the most ever, for this event.”

PC’s Director of Annual Giving, Teresa Levsen-Garofalo, said “It’s wonderful to see the little kids arrive leave with smiles on their faces and a bag full of gifts to put under the tree. It’s a joyful experience for the ‘big’ kids too – the college students, who spend the evening shopping with the little ones. It’s all about the true meaning of Christmas and the joy of giving.”

Spirit, the college’s Saint Bernard mascot, will be there to meet the kids and pose for pictures. Members of Presentation College’s “#PCProud” volunteer group will help the kids wrap the gifts before they leave the store, so they’ll be ready to put under the tree until Christmas morning.
