Matt Sevareid enters his second season as the head men’s basketball coach at Presentation College.   A native of Mitchell, SD he has spent the last seven years learning the game of basketball at a variety of great college basketball programs.

Sevareid has both coaching and playing experience at the collegiate level. During his playing career at Northern State University (1998–2000) he helped the Wolves earn their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and fifth consecutive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship. He also earned an all conference honorable mention award his senior season while leading the NSIC in three point shooting percentage.

After his playing experience he served as the Graduate assistant for Northern (2000-2002) under  head coach Don Meyer who currently ranks in the top 5 all-time for most collegiate victories. During his tenure at NSU, Sevareid earned a master’s degree in physical education and coaching.  From Northern State University Matt traveled to Gonzaga University (WA) where he was an administrative assistant under head coach Mark Few. During his stay, the Bulldogs won their fifth straight conference title and earned their fifth straight NCAA Tournament birth.

The last three years before coming to Presentation, Matt was the head men’s assistant coach at Jamestown College where he helped build a nationally-ranked program.  In his final year he assisted the Jimmies to a 19-11 record, a national ranking as high as #19, and a second place finish in the Dakota Athletic Conference.

In 2008, Sevareid led Presentation to a 7-18 overall finish, including going 5-9 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play, narrowly missing the playoffs, and finishing in a tie for sixth place. Sevareid, who resides in Aberdeen with his fiancé Maria, has three beautiful daughters Madyson, Cameron, and Skylar.
