FAQs

How do I login to the databases?

Access to the subscription databases is restricted to PC students, faculty and staff. When prompted, supply your PC email login (firstname.lastname) and your PC email password to gain entry.

Where are the Reserve videos for nursing classes?

Many videos are held on Reserve at the front desk of the library. Reserve materials are in high demand and normally have a limited check-out time, such as 4-hours, as determined by the course instructor. Knowing the course number and the video name will ensure you get the correct item quickly.

Does the Library have a photocopier?

Yes. The cost is $.05 per sheet for photocopies. Stop by the front desk and ask a staff member for help.

Can I send or receive a fax at the Library?

Yes. Sending a fax costs $1.00. Stop by the front desk and ask a staff member for help.

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

If the PC Library does not have the book, video or article you need, it can often be obtained through borrowing agreements with other libraries. This process does take extra time so please allow for that when you place your requests. Books and videos need to come through the mail, whereas articles are often delivered digitally. Fill out this form to place a request for an item.

How do I use the Full-Text Journal Finder?

The Full-Text Journal Finder lets you see if one of PC Library’s databases contains the journal article you need in full-text. Start by opening the Full-Text Journal Finder link. In the Find: box enter the title of the JOURNAL from your citation. If there is a match, choose a database that covers the date of your article. Work your way to the correct year and issue. Articles in an issue are usually listed in page number order.

Not every issue is completely full-text so you may still need to request the needed article.

If there isn’t a match, fill out the interlibrary loan request form to order the item.
