There are three different licensure tests secondary education students must pass to become a SD certified teacher. The first (Core- Core Academic Skills for Educators) is taken during their sophomore year and includes basic reading, writing, and math. The second exam (Praxis II) is the content exam for their particular area of study and the third licensure exam is a teaching and learning exam (PLT) taken during their student teaching experience in their final semester.
