Step 1: Complete the Certificate for Eligibility and Check for Accuracy

Students will receive a SEVIS I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status via Fed Ex. Please examine closely the following items:

  • Spelling of surname and first name. This needs to match the name on your passport
  • Date of birth must match your passport (Month/Day/Year)
  • Gender
  • Academic Major
  • City of Birth
  • Country of Birth
  • Country of Citizenship
Step 2: Pay the SEVIS Fee

The SEVIS fee must be paid before your visa interview. You may pay the SEVIS fee by credit card, check or bank draft from a U.S. bank, by international money order, or through Western Union.

Step 3: Apply for a Visa

New security requirements have increased the processing time for non-immigrant visas. In order to ensure that you have your visa in time to travel to the U.S. and begin school, you should apply for your visa at the earliest possible time.

 

Canadian citizens do not need a visa to enter the U.S. as a student.

Make Financial Arrangement to Pay Tuition and Fees

You are expected to pay your balance prior arriving on campus or once you arrive. You must pay your balance in total before moving into the suites, starting classes, or participating in athletics. You can find your balance on your Student Portal under My Ledger. This should have any scholarships subtracted with your total amount owed at the bottom.

Your tuition does not include books, supplies, or personal expenses. Please plan ahead for spending money prior to landing in the United States.

 

Pack

You will experience four distinct seasons during your studies at Presentation College. Fall (August-November) temperatures range from 40 F to 70 F. Winter (December- March) temperatures range from -30 F to 40 F. Spring (April- June) temperatures range from 50 F to 70 F. Summer (July- August) temperatures range from 70 F to 100 F. You will experience rain and snow.  Fortunately, winter clothing can be purchased inexpensively in the US.

 

Immunizations

You are REQUIRED to have two (2) MMR (measles, mumps, & rubella) immunizations to be a student at Presentation College.  This is mandated by South Dakota state law.  There are no exceptions to this requirement.  If you are not in compliance, you may be required to withdraw from the College.  Two rubella or two rubella immunizations are not a substitute for the MMR.

  • All other Student Move In: Friday, August 24
  • Classes Begin: Tuesday, August 28

 

We are excited for you to arrive at Presentation College. To ensure your arrival goes smoothly, you should begin making your travel plans well in advance. Students must complete validation/orientation prior to moving into the suites and starting classes.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Travel Outside of the U.S:

Traveling to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean:

You may be required to apply for a visitor visa. Please plan ahead, as processing can take approximately one month or longer.

 

Travel inside the U.S:

If you are traveling within the U.S, you do not need to have your documents signed for travel but you are required to carry your passport and I-20 with you at all times.
