The Associate of Arts Degree in English encompasses the first two years of an undergraduate degree, and prepares you to transfer to a four-year institution to complete your degree.
As a student of English you will read, study, analyze, and canonize both classic and contemporary texts and their authors. You will learn to be discriminating when evaluating written works and you will learn to articulate and support your interpretation of texts. You will learn how to develop strong critical arguments, as well as how to understand and use theoretical concepts in analysis. You will learn both critical thinking and divergent thinking skills, and you will learn to understand and analyze active creative thought.
