Chelsea Brandlee and Becky Smith selected to All-Conference Team!

11/11 -- Senior outside hitter Chelsea Brandlee was picked to the UMAC 1st Team All-Conference list by the conference coaches.  Chelsea played in 72 sets, had 217 kills, 11 aces, 249 digs and 26 blocks on the season.  Congratulations on a spectacular senior season Chelsea!

11/11 -- Senior outside hitter Becky Smith was picked to the UMAC Honorable-Mention list by the conference coaches.  Becky played in 60 sets, had 168 kills, 20 aces, 154 digs and 14 blocks for the 2009 season!  Congratulations on an outstanding senior season Becky!

Chelsea Brandlee and Meghan Schmidt make UMAC player of the week list in final week of competition!!

11/03 -- For the week of 10/25-10/31, Senior outside hitter Chelsea Brandlee was named the UMAC Volleyball hitter of the week.  In matches against University of Minnesota Morris, Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther Chelsea averaged 4.66 kills per set and had a .184 attacking percentage.  Great Work Chelsea!!

11/03 -- For the week of 10/25-10/31, Senior Libero Meghan Schmidt was named the UMAC Volleyball setter of the week.  In matches against University of Minnesota Morris, Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther Meghan averaged 6.11 digs per set and had an outstanding 94% reception percentage!  Congratulations Meghan!!

 

Saints lose last two matches of 2009 season

10/30 -- On Friday night, the Saints took on Bethany Lutheran in Mankato, MN.  Bethany handled the Saints without stress in the first game.  The Saints re-grouped and played the final two matches down to the wire as the visitors from PC fell short and lost 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 27-25).  Meghan Schmidt finished the match with 24 digs, Kelsey Schmidt with 28 assists, and Chelsea Brandlee with 13 kills.

10/31 -- On Saturday afternoon, the Saints battled Martin Luther in New Ulm, MN.  The visiting Saints lost the match 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19).  Meghan Schmidt had 17 digs, Kelsey Schmidt finished with 23 assists, and Chelsea Brandlee had a good match with 14 kills and 17 digs.  This marks the final match for PC Volleyball in the 2009 season.  A big hand goes out to Seniors Amanda Feist, Maggie Kuhlman, Meghan Schmidt, Chelsea Brandlee, and Becky Smith.  Your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated, the Athletic Department wishes you all the best!

 

Saints Fall to University of Minnesota Morris

10/27 -- On Tuesday evening the Saints played visitor to the University of Minnesota Morris in Morris, MN.  Though all three games were close, the Saints fell in three straight to lose the match 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 19-25).  Kelsey Schmidt came through with another strong showing, finishing the match with 19 assists and 2 aces.  Chelsea Brandlee continued to lead the Saints with kills, as she finished the match with 15.  This weekend the Saints travel to New Ulm, MN, and Mankato, MN, to take on Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther.  These 2 matches will be the final two matches for Seniors Amanda Feist, Maggie Kuhlman, Chelsea Brandlee, Becky Smith, and Meghan Schmidt.

Saints lose 2 conference matches over the weekend

10/23 -- On Friday night the Saints hosted Northland College.  After winning the first game the home squad was unable to keep the momentum in their favor and the visitors from Ashland, WI,  took the final 3 games to win the match 3-1 (18-25, 29-27, 25-14, 25-19).  Chelsea Brandlee and Becky Smith finished the match with 29 and 17 kills respectively.  Freshman setter Kelsey Schmidt had another solid night with 37 assists.

10/24 -- On Saturday the Saints played host to the College of St. Scholastica from Duluth, MN.  For the second straight night the Saints took the first game, but were unable to to take any of the rest as they lost 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-13).  Chelsea Brandlee had a team high 18 kills and Becky Smith  was just behind her with 17 kills.  Kelsey Schmidt had her second consecutive match with 30+ assists as she finished the match with 35 assists.

Saints split over weekend

10/15 -- On Thursday night the Saints took on Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN.  The host team handled the first 2 sets and the Saints gave them there money's worth in the third and final match as Northwestern won the match 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 26-24).  The Saints finished the match with 5 aces as a team.  Chelsea Brandlee finished with 10 kills, Kelsey Schmidt had a good match with 22 assists.

10/16 -- On Friday night the Saints found the win column with a 3-1 win over Crown College (25-22, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17).  The Saints put up big numbers statistically to gain the victory.  Kelsey Schmidt had an outstanding match as she tallied 40 assists in 4 games.  Becky Smith also had a solid showing, finishing with 21 kills and 3 aces.  Chelsea Brandlee accumulated 16 kills.

Saints take on University of Minnesota Morris at home

10/13 -- On Tuesday night the Saints hosted conference Rival University of Minnesota Morris.  The visiting cougars were able to fend off the Saints and win the match in 4 sets (25-15, 27-25, 21-25, 25-21).  After getting off to a slow start the Saints turned up the heat for the final 3 sets managing to win a set and narrowly lose the other two.  The Saints attack was extra song as Amanda Feist, Chelsea Brandlee, and Becky Smith finished the match with 10, 11, and 15 kills respectively.  Kelsey Schmidt had another strong showing finished with match 38 assists!  The Saints also had 5 aces for the night with Maggie Kuhlman finishing with 2.

Saints lose two on the road...

10/9 -- On Friday night the Saints were on the road as the took on the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.  The visiting Saints lost the match in 3 straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-15).  Chelsea Brandlee led the way with 10 kills, amd Kelsey Schmidt finished with 23 assists.

10/10 -- On Saturday the Saints traveled some more as they took on Northland College in Ashland, WI.  Again the Saints feel short losing to Northland in 3 sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-14).  Again, leading the way for the Saints was Chelsea Brandlee and Kelsey Schmidt with 6 kills and 18 assists respectively.  Becky Smith finished the match with 3 aces.

Saints host UMAC foes Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran

10/2 -- On Friday night the Saints took on conference opponent Martin Luther and took the game to 4 matches.  The visiting Knights came out on top 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 26-24).  After losing the first set, the Saints bounced back to tie the match at 1-1.  However the 3rd set was dominated by the Knights.  In the 4th set the Saints made a valiant comeback only to fall short.  Chelsea Brandlee and Becky Smith led the way for the Saints with 13 and 11 kills respectively.  Kelsey Schmidt had another good game setting and finished the match with 29 assists.

10/3 -- On Saturday afternoon the Bethany Lutheran Vikings from Mankato came to town to take on the Saints.  After a hard fought match the night before the Saints were unable to match the play of the Vikings and lost the match in 3 sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-17).  Leading the way for the Saints were Chelsea Brandlee with 9 kills, Kelsey Schmidt with 23 assists, and Christina Kusler finished the match with 2 blocks. 

Saints take on Crown College and Northwestern College at home

9/25 -- The Saints volleyball team earned their first victory of the season beating Crown College 3-1 (25-11, 25-27, 25-21, 25-23).  After handling the 1st set the visitors responded by winning the 2nd set, however, the Saints bounced back to win the final 2 sets as well as the match.  Chelsea Brandlee and Becky Smith led the way for the Saints with 13 and 12 kills respectively.  Kelsey Schmidt had another solid day with 29 assists and Meghan Schmidt finished the match with 6 aces.

9/26 -- After beating Crown College the Saints were back in action against another conference opponent, Northwestern College.  The host Saints had trouble getting any rhythm against Northwestern and lost the match 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17).  Leading the way for the Saints were Chelsea Brandlee  and Amanda Feist with 5 kills apiece as well as Kelsey Schmidt with 9 assists. 

Saints Face Valley City State University for the third time this season

9/22 -- For the third time this season the Saints Volleyball team took on Valley City.  The Saints lost the match 3-1 but remained competitive throughout.  The women won the first set 26-24, and lost the next three 25-15, 29-27, and 25-12.  Leading the way for the Saints was Maggie Kuhlman with 11 kills on 24 attempts, Kelsey Schmidt with 24 assists, and Christina Kusler with 16 digs.

Saints face stiff competition at the College of Saint Benedict Holiday Invitational

9/18  -- The Presentation College Saints Volleyball team dropped 4 matches again MIAC Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools this past weekend.

In the first match of the tournament the Saints faced off against St. Olaf’s losing in 3 straight sets 13-25, 11-25 and 11-25. Leading the way for the Saints were Chelsea Brandlee (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) had 6 kills and Kelsey Schmidt (Fr., Selby, S.D.) had 11 set assists. Hoping to rebound the Saints squared off against #21 ranked College of St. Benedict. The Blazers proved to be too much for the Saints to handle losing in three straight sets 11-25, 13-25 and 6-25.  Chelsea Brandlee (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) had 7 kills and Kelsey Schmidt (Fr., Selby, S.D.) had 12 set assists. Christina Kusler (Soph., Aberdeen, S.D.), Meghan Schmidt (Sr., Selby, S.D.) and Maggie Kuhlman (Sr., Hardwick, Minn.) all paced the Saints with 9 digs each.

 9/19 -- On Saturday the Saints squared off against Hamline University also losing in 3 straight sets 19-25, 14-25 and 10-25. Leading the Saints were Amanda Feist (Jr., Newcastle, Wyo.) with 6 kills and Maggie Kuhlman (Sr., Hardwick, Minn.) with 6 kills and 7 digs and Kelsey Schmidt (Fr., Selby, S.D.) had 16 set assists. In the last match of the tournament the Saints faced off against St. Kate’s losing in 3 sets 14-25, 8-25 and 10-25. Leading the Saints were Maggie Kuhlman (Sr., Hardwick, Minn.) with 9 kills, Chelsea Brandlee (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) had 9 digs and Kelsey Schmidt (Fr., Selby, S.D.) had 12 set assists. The Saints are now 0-9 on the season looking to get in the win column. The Saints next action is on September 22, 2009 against Valley City. This will be the last non-conference match for the Saints as they prepare for their conference season home opener on Friday and Saturday September 25th and 26th again Crown College and Northwestern College.

Saints drop two matches in home triangular

9/11 – The Presentation College Saints Volleyball team lost of a pair of matches to Mt. Marty (3-0) and Valley City State University (3-0).  The Saints are now 0-5 on the season.

Despite twelve serving errors in the match against Mt. Marty, Presentation stuck with the Lancers 19 - 25, 19 – 25, and 22 – 25. Becky Smith (Sr., Litchfield, Minn.) had 8 kills in the match Chelsea Brandlee (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) with 7 kills and Meghan Schmidt (Sr., Selby, S.D.) had 17 digs to pace the Saints defensively.

The Saints held their ground against Valley City, but ultimately fell in 3 straight sets 26-28, 13-25, and 17-25. Leading the way for the Saints was Becky Smith (Sr., Litchfield, Minn.) with 8 kills and Chelsea Brandlee (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) with 7 kills. Defensively Meghan Schmidt (Sr., Selby, S.D.) had 14 digs and Kelsey Schmidt (Fr., Selby, S.D.) had 11 set assists and 11 digs on the afternoon to record her first double-double of her career.

Saints lose match 3-0 to ranked Concordia-Moorhead

9/4 -- The Saints opened their road schedule on Friday against the #17 ranked Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers.  The Cobbers won the match 25-9, 25-11, 25-17.  Leading the way for the Saints was Becky Smith will 11 kills and Maggie Kuhlman with 9 assists.  The Saints return to home action on Saturday September 12th when the host a triangular with Mount Marty and Valley City State.  Matches start at 11am at the Strode Center.

Saints open season at home with loss to Dakota Wesleyan Universtiy

9/2 -- The Saint's had their home and season opener against non-conference opponent Dakota Wesleyan University.  The visiting squad took the match 3-0.  The visiting Tigers swept the Saints in straight sets (28-26, 25-16, 25-13).  Leading the way for the Saints was Becky Smith with 7 kills, Maggie Kuhlman with 14 assists and Amanda Feist with 2 aces.  PC Volleyball returns to action this Friday when they travel to the Concordia Moorhead tournament.  The Saints take on Concordia at 4pm and Mayville at 7pm on Friday and finish the weekend with Valley City on Saturday at 10 am.

 

Saints finish season winning two of final three matches
(November 1, 2008)

   The Presentation College Saints Volleyball team posted some of their best efforts in the closing week of the season, as the Saints rolled to a victory over Crown College on Saturday afternoon after challenging conference leader Northwestern College on Friday night.
   Presentation would hold tough in the second set on Friday against the Eagles after dropping the first set by a 25-15 margin. The Saints held a lead at 20-16, but would see Northwestern rally back to score nine of the final ten points of the set to win 25-15, and stay hot in the third set, winning 25-16. Northwestern clinched the UMAC Championship with the victory on Friday. However, the Saints would resume their solid play  Saturday, as they would sweep Crown in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-9).
   Presentation finishes the season at 3-21 overall and 3-11 in the UMAC. The Saints finish in seventh place in the conference. 
 

Saints pull off come-from-behind victory over Minnesota-Morris
(October 29, 2008)

   After falling behind 2-0, the Presentation College Saints rallied back to earn a five-set victory over Minnesota-Morris Wednesday night in Aberdeen, prevailing by set scores of 13-25, 19-25, 25-14, 26-24, and 15-12.
   Not only did the Saints trail in the match after the first two sets, but were also forced to rally back from an early 8-3 deficit in the fifth and final set. Presentation would rally back on the strength of their large home crowd and the help of seven Morris errors in the final stanza to capture a 9-all tie and an eventual 15-12 victory.
   Heidi Meier and Becky Smith had solid efforts to lead the Saints to victory. Meier posted a season-high 23 kills and .283 attack percentage, 11 digs and a pair of service aces in the match, while Smith tallied 11 kills and 17 digs. Also key for the Saints down the stretch were Meghan Schmidt who tallied 15 digs, a solo block and two assisted blocks, and Amanda Feist who chipped in with ten kills of her own.
   The Saints will return to action in their final week of play, as they play host to Northwestern College on Friday night. Game time is set for 7 PM in the Strode Center on the Presentation College campus.
