Saints hang tough,
fall 3-1 in pair of UMAC contests
(October 25, 2008)
Despite
being able to post some of its season-best
numbers as a team, the Presentation College
Saints Volleyball team fell to each Bethany
Lutheran and Martin Luther by 3-1 scores
this weekend.
Presentation jumped out to an early lead on Bethany on Friday
night, capturing the first set 25-23, but
was unable to score more than 15 points in
any of the following three sets. PC posted a
to-date season high in serve receipt pct.,
as well as a .271 team attack percentage,
but its season-high 12 service errors proved
to be the Saints downfall. Heidi Meier
(Sr., Marshall, Minn.) posted 15 kills and a
.204 attack pct., while Amanda Feist
(So., Newcastle, Wyo.), posted nine kills
and a .250 attack pct. to lead the Saints.
Saturday's action saw the Saints fall in the first two sets, before
rebounding for a 25-18 victory in the third.
Presentation would struggle late in the
fourth, as they lost six straight points to
fall 25-16 after being within 19-16 of the
Knights. Meier again posted solid numbers,
including 17 kills and 11 digs, while Feist
posted just her second double-digit kill
tally in 2008 with 10. Becky Smith
also contributed significant play both
offensively and defensively, as she notched
8 kills, a .231 attack pct., and 17 digs in
the match.
The Saints, now 1-20 overall and 1-10 in the UMAC will play three
matches this week, all at home, starting
with Minnesota-Morris on Wednesday night.
Game time is set for 7 PM in the Strode
Center on the campus of Presentation College

this past weekend, including a 3-1 setback

Presentation's 23.
The Saints, now 1-18 overall and 1-8 in the UMAC return to Aberdeen

Saints grab early
lead, falter late against Minnesota-Morris
(October 15, 2008)
Minnesota-Morris recorded 39 kills in the
final three sets on Wednesday night after
just recording 23 in the first two, as they
turned the tide and pulled of a
come-from-behind victory in five sets over
the Saints. Presentation won the first two
sets (25-21, 27-25) before falling in the
three (25-22, 25-16, 15-8) to drop the
match. The loss moves Morris ahead of
Presentation into sole possession of sixth
place in the UMAC standings.
Wednesday's game marks the first of three in a four-day stretch for
the Saints, who will now travel to Ashland,
Wis. for a match with Northland College on
Friday night before taking on St.

before surrendering game two (22-25). The
Saints would capture game three (27-25),
drop game four (14-25) before finishing the
Storm off in game five 15-12 by running off
the final six points of the game in a row.
Presentation won in large part thanks to solid efforts by Heidi
Meier (21 kills, 14 digs, .222 attack
pct.), Becky Smith (14 kills, .191
attack pct.) and Amanda Feist (12
kills, .357 attack pct.). The Saints also

Sioux made sure to come out focus and
prepared for their rematch with the Saints
Tuesday night, winning a 3-0 match that took
less than an hour to play. The Sioux
recorded 46 kills in the three games, while
holding the Saints to just 15.

return home again until October 24, when
they host Bethany Lutheran in UMAC

The
Presentation College Saints held their
ground on Wednesday night, but ultimately
fell in three games to the Fighting Sioux of
North Dakota - losing 25-9, 25-19 and 25-15.
Presentation made its strongest run in game two, as they broke out
to early leads, and had a chance to draw
within three points at 23-19 with the serve,
but ultimately two errors would end the game
and hand UND a 25-19 victory.
Presentation, now 0-9 on the season, will open UMAC play this
weekend with games at Martin Luther and
Bethany Lutheran.
Saints drop pair of
matches against in-state rivals
(September 20, 2008)
Despite solid individual performances, the
Presentation College Saints volleyball team
dropped a pair of matches this weekend at
Mt. Marty (3-1) and Dakota Wesleyan (3-0).

sets of the match to Mt. Marty, but were

Saints win first set
of the year, but struggle in Dallas
(September 6, 2008)
The Saints volleyball team experienced some
successes and growth this past weekend at
the University of Dallas invitational
tournament, despite losing all four matches
against tough Division-Three competition.
Coach Chelsey Albrecht saw her team lose in
straight-sets to Hendrix College of
Arkansas, the University of Dallas and
Austin College (Texas) before battling with
Concordia-Texas in the final match of the
weekend for the Saints.
The Saints would drop game one of the match 25-11, but would
rebound behind a season-high 14 kills in a
25-23 victory in game two. Game three proved
to be the turning point in the match, as
Presentation held a 23-18 lead late.
However, Concordia would rally back to make
it a 23-all tie on the strength of five
straight kills. A service error would give
the Saints a chance to take the game, but
Concordia would fight through to get yet
another kill to even the game at 24-all.
Another service error gave the Saints a
second chance to finish the game, but
Concordia would record their ninth and final
kill of the third game to end the Saints
serve, and then come back to win the game at
28-26 on the succeeding rally. Concordia
would ride the momentum to a 25-14 victory
in the fourth and final game to end
Presentation's tournament.
The Saints (0-6) now have this week off, and will return to
action on September 19 in Yankton, S.D. as
they take on Mt. Marty. Game time is set for
7 P.M. in the Cimpl events center.
Saints Drop first two
matches of the year in Moorhead
(August 29, 2008)
Presentation
College got off to a bit of a rocky start in
their 2008 season, as they dropped their
first two matches of the season to
UW-Stevens Point and Concordia-Moorhead on
Saturday afternoon by identical 3-0 scores.
PC would fall 25-7 in the first game against UW-Stevens
Point, only to come back and challenge the
Pointers in 25-22 and 26-24 point losses.
The Saints would record just 14 kills in the
match, and posted a negative attack
percentage, thanks to 22 errors (8 in the
first game alone) by the team.
The Saints level of play rebounded in the second match
against 16th-ranked Concordia-Moorhead, as
they posted nine fewer attack errors, but
still fell by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and
25-9. Concordia-Moorhead bashed out 48 kills
and a .292 team attack percentage en route
to the sweep.
The Saints will have the week off, before travelling to

Invite, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
