Saints finish season on high note, sweep
triple-header at home
(April 29, 2008)
The Presentation College softball team ended their season
on a high note, as they closed the season with a
triple-header sweep in UMAC play at home on Tuesday against
Crown College. The Saints captured three eight-run-rule
victories, winning by scores of 9-1, 12-3 and 13-2.
The Saints were led offensively by the duo of Meghan
Schmidt (So., Selby, S.D.) and Dana Chalupsky
(Fr., Winsted, Minn.) who each posted seven hits over the
course of the three games. Telishia Devericks (Fr.,
Sioux Falls, S.D.) took charge defensively for the Saints,
as she earned the victory in both games one and two, as well
as getting the start as pitcher for all three games.
Devericks lasted 13 innings and only allowed six runs, only
four of them were earned.
The Saints finish their season at 4-20, and 3-16 in UMAC
play.

Saints Softball struggles on six-game
road swing, returns to action Friday in St. Paul
(April 21, 2008)
The Presentation College Softball team struggled this
weekend, dropping all six games of its final true road trip
of the conference season. The Saints lost a pair to
UM-Morris, St. Scholastica and Northland College on the
weekend.
The trip was highlighted for the Saints by the final game,
played in Ashland, Wisc. against UMAC-leading Northland
College. Presentation closed out game one of the
double-header by posting four runs in the final two innings,
and the momentum carried over into game two, as the Saints
cut into the early Northland lead off of a pair of
hustle-aided hits by Meghan Schmidt (So., Selby,
S.D.) and Heidi Meier (Jr., Marshall, Minn.). It was
Meier at the plate again in the fourth inning for the
Saints, with runners on second and third, who was robbed of
a sure double by the Northland right fielder to keep the
Saints trailing. Telishia Devericks (Fr., Sioux
Falls, S.D.) managed to keep PC within striking distance
with her work on the mound, as well as adding a pair of hits
in game two.
The Saints will now travel to St. Paul for the annual UMAC
Crossover, hosted by Northwestern College. Presentation will
play Crown College on Friday morning at 10 A.M. in its first
action of the weekend.
Presentation College drops pair to
Minnesota-Morris
(April 16, 2008)
The Saints softball team posted 17
hits in a double-header against Minnesota-Morris on
Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn't enough, as they fell 15-5
in game one and 10-8 in game two.
The Saints dug themselves a hole in game one, as they trailed
6-1 after an inning and a half. PC managed to post four runs
in the bottom of the second, capped by a bases-clearing
double by Steph Bohlander (Fr., Douglas, Wyo.). Bohlander,
who also pitched game one for the Saints, was unable to
receive any more run support in game one, as the Saints fell
15-5.
Game two, a non-conference match-up, saw the Saints again
strike early and often, as they built a six run lead through
three innings at 8-2. However, defensive lapses cost the
Saints dearly over the final four innings, as Morris climbed
into the lead in the fifth inning, and eventually held on
for a 10-8 victory. Meghan Schmidt (So., Selby, S.D.) led
the offensive charge for the Saints in game two as she went
4-for-4, including a double, while Dana Chalupsky (Fr.,
Winsted, Minn.) tallied 4 RBI in game two.
Presentation will take Thursday off, before heading on an
four-day road trip, where the Saints will play at UM-Morris
on Friday, Northland on Saturday, St. Scholastica on Sunday,
and a split double-header on Monday in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Times and locations for these games can be found on the
schedule page.

UMAC games on Tuesday afternoon in New Ulm, Minnesota
despite some solid individual and team offensive efforts.
The Saints fell 11-3 and 18-5 in the double-header.
Game one saw the Saints post 10 hits, but were unable to
connect with runners in scoring position, as they stranded a
total of seven runners in five innings of play. Hannah
Heidelberger (Fr., Villard, Minn.) posted a pair of
doubles in the first game, including driving home the first
run of the game in the first inning as she chased Meghan
Schmidt (Soph., Selby, S.D.) in. The Saints rapped out a
total of five doubles in the first game, including the two
from Heidelberger, and one each from Schmidt, Angie Jallo
(Jr., Morris, Minn.), and Dana Chalupsky (Fr.,
Winsted, Minn.).
The offensive fireworks carried over for both teams into game
two, as Presentation and Martin Luther combined for 28 hits
in 4.5 innings. Leading the attack for the Saints was Meghan
Schmidt, who posted a 3-for-3 game, including a double, two
singles, a walk and two runs scored. Steph Bohlander
(Fr., Douglas, Wyo.), Telishia Devericks (Fr., Sioux
Falls, S.D.) and Heidelberger all had two-hit games for the
Saints in the nightcap.

elements, lose UMAC opener
(April 5, 2008)
With winds gusting straight in at over 30 miles per hour,
and Bethany Lutheran's ace Amy Stevens on the mound, the
Presentation College Saints struggled offensively in
Saturday's UMAC opener, dropping games by the scores of 8-0
and 9-1.
Presentation jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in game two, as
Meghan Schmidt (Soph., Selby, S.D.) scored the Saints
lone run on an RBI groundout by Dana Chalupsky (Fr.,
Winsted, Minn.) in the bottom half of the first inning. The
Saints would hold on to the lead until the top half of the
third, and were unable to recover in the later innings.
The Saints, now 1-5 on the young season, will play their
fifth and sixth games in three days as they take on rival
Minnesota-Morris in a double-dip on Sunday afternoon. First
pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM, with the games to be played
at the Player's Field Complex in Aberdeen.
Saints open weekend home-stand with win
against NorthCentral, drop second game
(April 4, 2008)

the Presentation College softball team was able to play its
home opener against North Central University of Minnesota
this afternoon. PC managed a split in the double-header,
winning the first game 11-1 in five innings, and dropping
the second by a count of 17-10.
Presentation's offensive efforts carried the team in the pair
of games, as they pounded out 32 hits in the double header,
including eight from lead-off hitter Meghan Schmidt
(Soph., Selby, S.D.). Schmidt managed to hit for the cycle
throughout the double-header, as she led off the first game
with a Home Run for the Saints, and added the double and
triple in the second game of the day. Angie Jallo
(Jr., Morris, Minn.) also posted a career-high five RBI in
the second-game loss to North Central.

three-day home-stand as they take on Bethany Lutheran
tomorrow afternoon. First pitch for the double-header is
scheduled for 1:00 P.M. at Players' Field Complex.
Saints open season with pair of losses on
road
(April 2, 2008)
After waiting nearly four weeks from
the date of their first scheduled game, the Presentation
College Saints softball team finally got a pair of games in
on Wednesday afternoon, as they fell to Valley City State
(N.D.) by scores of 11-0 and 9-0.
Presentation struggled to capitalize in run-scoring
opportunities throughout the day, while the Vikings, who are
now 10-3 on the season, took
advantage of a handful of miscues by the Saints in notching
the double-header sweep. Presentation saw Hannah
Heidelberger (Fr., Villard, Minn.) notch the first two
hits of her career in the opener, both singles, while Megan
Piatz (Sr., Cresbard, S.D.) also grabbed her first base
knock.
The Saints will return to action on Friday afternoon,
as they take on NorthCentral University of the Twin Cities
in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00.
Weather continues to hamper schedule;
opener now slated for March 31st

has led to the postponement of games for the Presentation
College Saints softball team. Games originally scheduled for
the 27th @ Dakota State and 28th vs. Black Hills State have
been postponed due to the poor field conditions. The Saints
will now look to reschedule those games at a later date, and
