Romero captures second UMAC Player-of-the-Week Award
(October 28, 2008)

Joe Romero claimed his second UMAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor of the year on Tuesday.

   Joe Romero (Soph., Lemitar, N.Mex.) was awarded the UMAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week for Men's Soccer for his efforts this past week. This is the third time in his career that Romero has been selected as the conference player of the week, and the second time this season.
   Romero posted back-to-back shutouts last weekend, as he stopped all 13 shots on goal that he faced in contests with UMAC foes St. Scholastica and Northland College. Romero has now stopped the last 25 shots on goal that he has faced, and has not allowed a goal in his last 402 minutes of play. The last goal scored on the Saints and Romero was early in the second half of a non-conference game with Bethel University on October 15.
   Romero's current four-game shutout streak ties a Presentation College record (Evan Ormand, 2005). He will have a chance to be the lone record holder as the Saints return to action on Thursday afternoon for a 1 PM contest at the University of Minnesota-Morris. 

Saints complete big weekend with sweep;
Clinch UMAC Conference Tournament berth

   The Presentation College Saints Men's Soccer team stayed hot this weekend, as they notched a pair of victories over UMAC competition to clinch at minimum a berth in the UMAC Final Four Conference Tournament. The Saints defeated St. Scholastica for just the second time in school history on Saturday afternoon 1-0, and followed that up with another 1-0 victory over Northland on Sunday.
   Presentation relied on stellar team defense to neutralize both the Scholastica and Northland attack over the weekend, as Sophomore Goalkeeper Joe Romero (Lemitar, N.Mex.) notched his third and fourth shutouts in a row. PC's Kris Harry scored the lone goal of Saturday's contest on a 30-yard boot that sailed into goal over the outstretched arms of the Scholastica goalie; meanwhile Sunday's lone tally came off of a penalty kick-goal from Senior Captain Nick Becker.
   The Saints, now 8-6-2 overall and 7-3-2 in UMAC play, will return to action this week as they play a home-and-home with Minnesota-Morris.  The Saints will travel to Morris on Thursday, while the Cougars will return the trip for the regular-season finale on Saturday. If the Saints are victorious in both games, they will win the rights to host the first round of the conference tournament on November 4. Game time for Saturday's battle is scheduled for 3:00 PM at Saints Field in Aberdeen. 

Saints jump into third place in the UMAC with pair of victories
(October 18, 2008)

   A pair of UMAC victories this past weekend helped PC's Men's Soccer Team jump from fifth place to third in the conference standings, as they Saints defeated Bethany Lutheran 2-0 on Friday and Martin Luther 1-0 in extra time on Saturday. The top four teams in the UMAC standings qualify for the "Final Four" conference tournament in November.
   Presentation book-ended their wins this weekend, as they jumped out to an early lead on Friday to capture victory on the strength of a pair of Anthony Hruby (Jr., M/F, Aberdeen) headers for goals inside of the first 20 minutes of action. The Saints would not score again until the 94th minute of play on Saturday, as Jasper Pray scored unassisted to knock off Martin Luther.
   The Saints, now 6-6-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the UMAC will host a pair of conference games this weekend in an attempt to secure their position in the UMAC Final Four. Saturday's action will see the Saints take on conference-leading St. Scholastica at 2 pm, followed by a date with Northland College on Sunday, also scheduled for 2 pm, both at Saints Field.

Saints struggle with Bethel, return to action Friday
(October 15, 2008)

   MIAC Member and fellow Division-Three foe Bethel University defeated Presentation College 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field in Aberdeen. This marks the final non-conference game of the season for the Saints, who have just six conference contests left on the 2008 schedule.
   The Saints, now 4-6-2 overall, but 3-3-2 in the UMAC will look to better their conference standing in an attempt to qualify for their second-straight berth into the conference tournament to be held November 4 & 8. The Saints will take on Bethany Lutheran on Friday afternoon, and then take on Martin Luther on Saturday. Earlier in 2008, the Saints beat Bethany by a 3-2 final in Aberdeen a day after reaching a draw with Martin Luther at 2-all.

Saints finish in tie with Northland, lose in waning moments to Scholastica in pair of UMAC Contests
(October 4, 2008)

   Despite having chances to win each game this weekend, the Presentation College Saints Men's Soccer team was forced to settle for a draw and a loss in a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference games this weekend. Presentation finished in a 1-all tie with Northland College on Saturday, and fell in the second overtime to St. Scholastica 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
    Presentation would jump out to an early second-half 1-0 lead in the Northland game, as Brandon Spanier (Fr., Groton) recorded his fourth goal of the season in the 49th minute of play. Spanier scored off of Nick Becker's second assist of the year. The Saints would then surrender a goal at the 63rd minute of play, and despite out-shooting the LumberJacks 24-7 (including 14-4 in the second half), the game would end in a 1-all tie.
   Sunday's action saw St. Scholastica outshoot Presentation 22-7 over the duration of the double-overtime contest, before connecting on their 23rd and final shot of the game with less than four minutes left in the final overtime to break the scoreless tie.
   Presentation will return to action next weekend with a pair of home dates, beginning with Northwestern College on Friday afternoon. Game time is set for 3:00 PM at Saints Field.

Saints earn split on the road
(September 27, 2008)

   A solid defensive effort on Saturday helped earn the Presentation College Saints' Men's soccer team preserve a split in a pair of UMAC road contests over the weekend, as PC defeated Northwestern 1-0 after falling to Crown College 3-1 on Friday.
   After allowing three goals in just nine shots on goal to Crown College, Joe Romero (So., Lemitar, N. Mex.) posted his second shut-out of the year against Northwestern, as he stopped all six shots that came on goal in the contest. Presentation would give Romero all the lead that he would need in the 70th minute of the game, when Bryan Becker (Fr., Groton, S.D.) scored the first goal of his career off of a rebound.
   The Saints, now 3-3-1 overall, and 2-1-1 in the UMAC, will travel to Northland and St. Scholastica for more UMAC games this weekend on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Saints earn victory, draw in conference-opening weekend

   Thanks to solid offensive play all weekend long, the Presentation College Saints' Men's Soccer team was able to earn a victory and a tie in the first weekend of UMAC play. PC defeated Bethany Lutheran 3-2 on Saturday after scrambling to earn a 2-all tie on Friday against Martin Luther.
   After falling down 2-0 in the first half on Friday, Presentation's Nick Becker (Sr., Groton, S.D.) netted a pair of goals within five minutes of each other, both being assisted by Brandon Spanier (Fr., Groton, S.D.). The Saints were unable to convert on opportunities later in the half, however, and had to settle for a draw in the first game of conference play.
   Saturday afternoon saw a back-and-forth game yet again, as the Saints jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a Collin Heupel (Jr., Aberdeen) goal in the eighth minute of play. Bethany would answer back just seven minutes later to tie the score at one-all before Nick Becker found the back of the net for his third goal of the weekend, coming in the 24th minute of play. Presentation would add a third goal thanks to Brandon Spanier in the second half, and hang on to win 3-2.
   The Saints, now 2-2-1 overall, and 1-0-1 in the UMAC will take to the road for games at Crown College on Friday and Northwestern College on Saturday next week. The next home action for the Saints is scheduled for October 10th, also against Northwestern.

   The Presentation College Saints Soccer programs swept the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) awards this week after posting a victory on the men's side and a draw by the women.
   On the men's side, Brandon Spanier (Fr., F, Groton, S.D.) earned the Offensive Player of the Week award after assisting on the first goal, and then adding one of his own in the Saints' 4-0 victory over North Central on Saturday. Joe Romero (So., G, Lemitar, N. Mex.), meanwhile, earned defensive player of the week after posting his first shutout on the 2008 season in the game.
   Presentation will return to action this weekend, as they open with conference games against Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther on Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Saints best NorthCentral, Cogley earns first career victory
(September 13, 2008)

   Behind a strong offensive performance, the Saints netted Head Coach Steve Cogley his first win at the collegiate level on Saturday afternoon, defeating NorthCentral University 4-0. Despite treacherous weather conditions, the Saints got off 25 shots during the game, and were able to limit the Rams to just four.
   Presentation's Collin Heupel got the scoring started in the first half, as he scored just 12 minutes into the game off of an assist from Brandon Spanier to mark a 1-0 advantage. Spanier would follow Heupel's goal with one of his own at the 33 minute mark to give the Saints a 2-0 halftime lead. Jasper Pray would contribute two goals in the second half - one on a penalty kick - to ice the victory. Joe Romero anchored a strong PC defense, and posted his first shutout of the season.
   The Saints (1-2) will open up conference play when they next take the field on Friday afternoon against Martin Luther at 2 PM. Saturday will see the Saints take on Bethany Lutheran at noon, with both games being played at Saints Field. 

Saints fall in season opener, again in home opener
(September 6, 2008)

   The Presentation College Men's Soccer team struggled in its season opener to Northwestern (Iowa) 5-0, but rebounded well and narrowly missed on winning their home opener against St. Mary's University (Minn.) 3-2 in overtime.
   The Saints have received contributions from several players on the young season; most notably receiving goals from Brandon Spanier and Zach Harry in the St. Mary's game. PC will return to action on Saturday afternoon in Aberdeen as they look to capture their first win of the season against NorthCentral University. Game time is set for 2 PM.

Saints picked fifth in UMAC Coaches' Preseason Poll
(August 28, 2008)

   The Presentation College Saints Men's Soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the 2008 Pre-Season UMAC Coaches' Poll. Presentation, which finished second in the UMAC in 2007, finished behind St. Scholastica, Minnesota-Morris, Northwestern and Bethany Lutheran in the voting. UMAC Coach of the Year (November 3rd, 2006) 
     Head Men's Soccer Coach, Bob Schuchardt was named UMAC Coach of the Year.  Coach Schuchardt led his team to the program's best overall record of 15-3-3 and the program's best UMAC record of 11-2-1.  The Men's Soccer team were named UMAC Regular Season Champions, the program's first UMAC Conference Title.  The Saints also went on to take third place at the USCAA National Tournament in Rochester Hills, MI by defeating the #1 ranked Unity College 4-0.   

UMAC Player of the Year (November 3rd, 2006)
     Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand was named UMAC Player of the Year.  Ormand's impressive defensive numbers helped his team complete their most successful season to date.  Ormand finished the year with eight shut outs, including the 4-0 win over Unity College at the USCAA National Tournament. During the 2006 Season, Ormand was named UMAC Player of the Week three times as well as USCAA All-American, USCAA All-Tournament Team and UMAC All-Conference.

Freshman Midfielder, Collin Heupel was named to the UMAC All-Conference team.  Heupel was also named UMAC Player of the Week during the 2006 season.  During the regular season, Heupel has recorded a total of 10 goals on the as well as nine assists. 

Rochester Hills, MI (November 3rd, 2006)
     Men's Soccer went on to defeat the number one seeded Unity College to take 3rd Place at the USCAA National Tournament.  The Saints shut out Unity College 4-0.  Preston Buechler, Nick Becker, Ryan Brushwood, and Jordan Heupel all scored a goal for the Saints.  Evan Ormand recorded five saves on the win.  Evan Ormand and Collin Heupel were also named to the 2006 USCAA National All-Tournament Team.

Rochester Hills, MI (November 2nd, 2006)
     The PC Men's Soccer team fell to Robert Morris College in the first round of the USCAA National Tournament 0-3.  The Saints will face the number one seeded Unity College for third place on Saturday, November 4th at 10:00am.

USCAA All-American (November 1st, 2006)
     Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand and Freshman Midfielder, Collin Heupel received USCAA All-American Honors at the USCAA Soccer National Tournament Banquet on November 1st.  On the 2006 season, Ormand has recorded a total of 95 saves and seven shut outs with a .856 save percentage.  Heupel has recorded a total of 10 goals on the 2006 season as well as nine assists.

     Junior Forward, Nick Becker and Freshman Defender, Tim Haiar received USCAA Honorable Mention All-American Honors at the USCAA Soccer National Tournament Banquet on November 1st.  Becker has tallied six goals and five assists for the 2006 season.  Haiar's defensive efforts has helped his team finish with an over all record of 14-2-3.

  Nick Becker received USCAA Academic All-American Honors.  Becker not only excels on the soccer field but in the class room as well.  To achieve this award you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and be at least a Junior or Senior.  Congratulations Nick!

Rochester Hills, MI (November 2nd, 2006)

Aberdeen, SD (October 28th, 2006)
     PC Men's Soccer tied the University of Wisconsin Superior on Saturday at Saints Field by a score of 1-1 in double overtime.  Colin Heupel led the Saints by scoring the only goal.  Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand recorded 11 saves in the effort.  This tie puts the Saints with an overall regular season record of 14-2-3. 

USCAA National Player of the Week (October 24th, 2006)
     Collin Heupel was name USCAA National Player of the Week.  Last week Heupel scored two goals and one assist to help the Saints clinch the UMAC Conference Title.  Heupel's goals include a game tying shot to lead the Saints to an overtime tie with Northwestern College.

USCAA Honorable Mention Player of the Week (October 24th, 2006)
     Evan Ormand of Presentation College continued his dominance in goal last week recording 12 saves in the Saint's 2-0 shutout win at Crown College and a 1-1 tie versus Northwest College. On the season, Ormand has allowed only 12 goals (.855 save %).

Aberdeen, SD (October 24th, 2006)
     The Saints men's soccer team defeated North Central University 2-0.  This win puts the Saints at a 14-2-2 overall record, the best in school history.  The Saints were led by Preston Buechler and Collin Heupel who both scored a goal for the Saints.  Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand recorded five saves on the day. 

Aberdeen, SD (October 21st, 2006)
     Men's Soccer won another game at home this weekend by beating Bethany Lutheran College 3-1.  This win put the Saints at an overall record of 13-2-2 and a UMAC record of 11-2-1.  Junior Forward Nick Becker, Freshman Midfielder Collin Heupel, and Senior Forward Marvin Bediako each scored a goal for the Saints.  Heupel and Bediako's goals were each assisted by Freshman, Tyler Vance.

The Presentation College Men's Soccer team clinched the UMAC Regular Season Championship title with their 3-1 victory over Martin Luther College.  Preston Buechler scored 2 goals and Cody Becker added the other goal for the win.  Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand recorded two saves on the day.  This is the first ever UMAC championship title for Men's Soccer!   

Morris, MN (October 17th, 2006)
     The PC Men's Soccer team took another UMAC game today by beating the University of MN Morris 2-1.  Senior, Marvin Bediako scored two goals in the Saints win.  Collin Heupel and Jordan Heupel each assisted Bediako in his goals.  Senior, UMAC Defensive Player of the Week, Evan Ormand recorded five saves.  The men's team are currently sitting at first in the UMAC with a record of 9-2-1 in the UMAC and 11-2-2 overall.

    Senior Goal Keeper for the Saints, Evan Ormand was named UMAC Defensive Player of the Week. Ormand recorded 2 saves in the Saint's win over Crown College and 10 saves in the Saints tie with Northwestern College.  Evan's defensive play has helped the Saints climb into the top spot of the UMAC and a UMAC record of 8-2-1, the best in school history.

St. Paul, MN (October 14th, 2006)
     The PC Men's Soccer team tied Northwestern College 1-1 in a double overtime effort.  Scoring the goal for the Saints was Freshman Midfielder, Collin Heupel who was unassisted.  Senior Goal Keeper, Even Ormand recorded 10 saves on the game. 

St. Bonifacius, MN (October 13th, 2006)
     Men's soccer shut out Crown College 2-0.  Collin Heupel and brother Jordan Heupel each scored a goal for the Saints.  Preston Buechler and Collin Heupel both added the assists.  Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand had two saves on the day.

UMAC Offensive Player of the Week (October 9th, 2006)
    
Freshman Midfielder, Collin Heupel was named the UMAC Offensive Player of the Week.  Heupel scored one goal and added two assists on the Saints win over Waldorf College and one goal in the win over St. Scholastica.  The Saints win over CSS put them in a tie for first place in the UMAC.

     Freshman, Tim Haiar was named the UMAC Defensive Player of the Week.  Haiar is a center defender for the Saints and his defensive play helped the Saints soar over CSS and NC in UMAC play this past weekend. 

Aberdeen, SD (October 8th, 2006)
     The Saints men's soccer team defeated Northland College Sunday, October 8th by a score of 2-0.  The Saints were led  by Cody Becker and Leslie Jeanville who both scored for the Saints and Tyler Vance added an assist for the Saints.  Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand was unstoppable again at goal recording another shut out and four saves.  This win took the Saints to an impressive 8-2 in the UMAC.

Aberdeen, SD (October 7th, 2006)
     Saints soccer took down UMAC foe St. Scholastica by a score of 2-1 on Sunday, October 7th, 2006.  The Saints were led by Preston Buechler and Kristopher Harry who each scored a goal for the Saints.  Assisting Harry was Leslie Jeanville.  Senior Goal Keeper, Evan Ormand recorded four saves in the game.

USCAA National Player of the Week and UMAC Offensive Player of the Week (October 1st, 2006)
     Nick Becker was named USCAA National Player of the Week and UMAC Offensive Player of the week for his outstanding offensive efforts.   Becker helped lead the Saints to three UMAC wins with three goals, two of these goals were game winning goals.  Becker also added two assists.
