Saints fall to Northwestern, finish season 12-14
(February 22, 2008)

A cold-shooting first half doomed the Saints on Friday night, as they fell to Northwestern in the semi-final round of the UMAC Playoffs in St. Paul, Minnesota by the final of 76-50.
During the cold-shooting stretch of the first half, the Saints managed to only post 12 points, despite taking 27 shots from the field, while Northwestern shot a consistent 52.5% (31-for-59) for the game. Presentation was paced by Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.) with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Chelsey Stanley (So., G, Groton, S.D.), Telishia Devericks (Fr., G, Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Dana Chalupsky (Fr., G, Winsted, Minn.) all managed eight points a piece.

Saints beat Scholastica, clinch playoff berth
(February 16, 2008)

Thanks to some clutch free-throw shooting, and the UMAC tie-breaker scenarios, the PC Women clinched a berth in the UMAC Conference Tournament in St. Paul next weekend by beating St. Scholastica 60-54 in Aberdeen Saturday Night.
PC would claim the lead for good at the 7:51 mark in the first half, thanks to a Meghan Schmidt (So., G, Selby, S.D.) lay-up. The Saints would maintain the lead through the rest of the game, thanks in part to huge second-half performances from Telishia Devericks (Fr., G, Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.). Devericks scored 13 in the second half, while Brandlee tallied 14, including a combined 11-of-12 free throw shooting for the pair to help seal the win. Devericks finished with a career-high 18, and Brandlee had 21.
Next up for the Saints will be a match-up with UM-Morris on Tuesday night in Morris. The winner of the Morris/PC game will enter the conference tournament as either the second or third seed and meet up with Northland College in the first round, while the loser will be the number four seed and meet host Northwestern College. Game time for Tuesday is set for 5:30 P.M.

Saints drop UMAC game to LumberJills, remain in fourth place in UMAC Standings
(February 15, 2008)

The Saint's Women's Basketball team struggled to a 65-43 loss to the Northland College LumberJills on Friday night, falling from a three-way tie for second place in the UMAC Standings.
Despite being limited to seven healthy players after the loss of Sara Gregersen (Fr., F, Starbuck, Minn.) to a knee injury, the Saints hung tough in the first half, remaining within single-digits of the LumberJills. The Saints captured an early two-point lead at the 14:23 mark off of a Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.) three-point field goal - just her fourth of the year. The Saints would then watch as Northland went on a 26-15 tear to close out the first half. The Saints were unable to cut into the Northland lead in the second half, as the final ended up being the largest lead of the game for the LumberJills. Presentation was limited to 15-for-53 (28.3%) shooting on the night, including 6-of-27 (22.2%) from behind the arc. Brandlee led all scorers with 24 points, and contributed eight rebounds and four steals to the effort, just falling short of her second double-double of the season. Telishia Devericks (Fr., G, Sioux Falls, S.D.) had seven points and five rebounds, while no other Saint scored more than three.
The Saints, now 11-12 overall and 7-5 in UMAC play stand alone in 4th place, and will face St. Scholastica at home Saturday afternoon in a hope to fight off a four-game losing streak. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. at the Strode Center.

Saints Women's Basketball drops
pair of UMAC Match-ups
(February 9, 2008)

The PC Women's Basketball team hung tough in a pair of games this weekend, but ended up dropping a pair of conference re-matches.
Friday night featured the Saints at fifth-place Bethany Lutheran College Vikings in Mankato, Minnesota. Presentation came out hot, as the Saints jumped out to an early 16-9 lead, fueled by hot-shooting guards Meghan Schmidt (So., G, Selby, S.D.) and Megan Jones (So., G, White River, S.D.) who each nailed a pair of three-point baskets in the early going. The Saints would not be able to hold on to the early lead, however, as the Vikings came back to lead 42-30 at half, and go on to win by the total of 79-53. Presentation received solid contributions from Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.), who finished with 15, as well as Schmidt who tallied 14.
Saturday night took the Saints to New Ulm, for a re-match with Martin Luther. The Knights took off to a quick start, including holding the lead for 37 of the first 38 minutes of play. However, after trailing by as many as 15 in the second half, the Saints willed their way back to tie the game thanks to a breakaway steal by Meghan Schmidt and the resulting free-throws with 2:01 remaining. However, the Knights closed the game on a 10-6 run, and finished with a 63-59 victory. The Saints had four players in double-digits for the first time on the season Saturday night, including 22 from Chelsea Brandlee, 12 from Telishia Devericks (Fr., G, Sioux Falls, S.D.) and 10 each from Megan Jones and Chelsey Stanley (So., G, Groton, S.D.)
The Saints (11-11 overall, 7-4 in the UMAC) played much of the weekend without key post player Sara Gregersen (Fr., F, Starbuck, Minn.), who left in the first minute of action on Friday evening with an apparent knee injury. Her status for this weekend's games (Friday against Northland College, Saturday against St. Scholastica) is unknown.
This weekend's double-header will also mark the home season finale for the women's team, who now stand in a three-way tie for second place in the UMAC. Full UMAC Standings can be found by clicking here.

Presentation extends winning streak to nine games before falling to Northwestern in rematch
(February 2, 2008)

The Saints Women's basketball team tied a school record as they won their ninth game in a row on Friday night, only to come one short of breaking the record in Saturday's action.
In a re-match of last weekend's game, the Saints picked up their 11th victory of the year, besting Crown College 69-47 behind Callie Antonsen's (Sr., F, Platte, S.D.) 28 points and 11 rebounds -- good for her 6th double-double on the year. Meghan Schmidt (So., G, Selby, S.D.) added 14 points while Megan Jones (So., G, White River, S.D.) chipped in 10 in just nine minutes of action.
After handing Northwestern just its second UMAC loss of the season last weekend, the Eagles returned the favor, defeating the Saints 69-58. Callie Antonsen again led the Saints in scoring with 23, leaving her just two points short of the career record at PC. Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.) managed to score 13 points in the contest, despite being saddled with foul trouble and only playing 19 minutes. Sara Gregersen (Fr., F, Starbuck, Minn.) recorded her second career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Saints (11-9, 7-2) remain in a first-place tie with UM-Morris in the UMAC Standings, and will look to start another winning streak this weekend with games at Bethany Lutheran on Friday and Martin Luther on Saturday. The Saints will return home on the 16th and 17th of February for their final regular-season games at the Strode Center this season.

Chelsea Brandlee named UMAC Player of the Week
(January 29, 2008)

Chelsea Brandlee was honored by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week Tuesday. Brandlee posted 49 points in two games, including a career-high of 30 against Crown College on Saturday night. This was the second Player of the Week award for Brandlee this season, and the fifth by a Saints Women's Basketball player - three more than the rest of the conference combined! (UMAC Release)

Presentation Continues Winning Ways, Extend Winning Streak to Eight
(January 26, 2008)

The Saints took advantage of a chance to break a three-way tie for first place in the UMAC Standings on Friday night by beating Co-Leader Northwestern College 73-55 in the Strode Center. The Saints then went on to extend their current winning streak to eight games by besting Crown College 64-33 on Saturday Afternoon. Presentation now sits in a two-way tie with UM-Morris at 6-1 in UMAC Play.
The Saints jumped out to a 36-19 halftime lead in Friday's action, thanks to a 29-5 run over the last 14 minutes of the first half. Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.) scored 12 points during that run, and would finish the game with 19. Leading all scorers was Callie Antonsen (Sr., G, Platte, S.D.) with 22 points. Antonsen also set a new career record by recording her 687th rebound during the game, breaking the previous mark held by Krista DeJong.
Presentation again broke out to a big early lead on Saturday to ensure that there would be no let down after the emotional win on Friday Night. After jumping 40-15 at halftime, the Saints relied on their defense to close out the game by holding Crown to just 5-of-23 (21.7%) shooting in the second half. Presentation dominated the game inside, outscoring Crown 42-16 in the paint. Chelsea Brandlee scored a Career-High 30 points on 14-20 shooting from the field to lead the Saints offensively.
The Saints will be in action next weekend as they make a return trip to Crown and Northwestern on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Saints win pair of UMAC Road Contests (January 20, 2008)

Behind the strength of their team defense, the Saints Women's Basketball team picked up a pair of UMAC victories this weekend, improving to 4-1 in the conference and 8-8 overall.
On Friday night in Duluth, Minn. against St. Scholastica, Presentation put together an amazing
22-0 run over the last 6:11 of play to record a 62-58 victory. Callie Antonsen (Sr., G, Platte, S.D.) led all scorers with 23 points, and Chelsea Brandlee (So., F, Aberdeen, S.D.) posted 20 of her own, including 10 in the second half.
After the dramatic comeback on Friday, the Saints narrowly avoided a letdown on Saturday, capturing a 64-62 win over Northland College, despite leading by as many as 18 in the first half and 10 at half time. Chelsea Brandlee provided the heroics on Saturday, by cashing in on a lay-up with 20 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Saints. Brandlee posted 15 points, while Antonsen again led all scorers with 30 points. Antonsen is now 90 points and 6 rebounds short of breaking Krista DeJong's career records for PC Women's Basketball!
The Saints, who are now in a three-way tie for first place in the UMAC, will be in action again this weekend in another pair of conference battles; Friday night will feature co-UMAC leader Northwestern College at 5:30, and Saturday afternoon will involve a game with Crown College at 3:00. Both contests will be in the Strode Center.
