UMAC Player of the Week (February 27th, 2007)

Presentation College junior guard Callie Antonsen has been named this week’s UMAC women’s basketball player of the week.  Antonsen (Platte, SD) led the Saints to the regular season and post-season titles last week. In three games Antonsen tallied 88 points (29.3 ppg), including 34 against Minnesota-Morris in the game Tuesday that determined the regular season championship and then 32 in the post-season tournament title game. She was 30-of-67 (44.7%) from the field and shot 83 percent (25-30) from the free-throw line in the three games. It is the second straight POW award and fourth overall this season for Antonsen.

UMAC Player of the Week (February 20th, 2007)
    
Junior guard, Callie Antonsen was named UMAC Player of the Week for the third time this season. Antonsen led the Saints to a 62-52 win over St. Scholastica when she scored a record breaking 43 points. Antonsen was 11-18 from the field shooting 61%, 3-4 from behind the arc, and an impressive 18-19 from the free throw line. For the week, Antonsen scored 56 total points (28 ppg), 19 rebounds, six steals, and six assists.

Morris, MN (February 20th, 2007)
     The Saints women's basketball team defeated UMAC foe in an exciting game 70-63. The Saints trailed with 10 minutes to go by 16 points and rallied back to clinch the UMAC regular season championship title. The Saints were led by Junior standout, Callie Antonsen who scored 34 points. Seniors, Darcey Faulhaber and Holly Novstrup also added 10 points each in the win. The Saints finished the regular season with a UMAC record of 11-3 and an overall record of 14-11. The Saints will now host the UMAC Final Four Tournament at the Strode Center February 23rd and 24th.

Duluth, MN (February 17th, 2007)
    
Junior, Callie Antonsen scored an impressive 43 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Saints over St. Scholastica 62-52. Antonsen's 43 points broke the current school record for most points in a single game that was 35. Senior, Holly Novstrup also came out strong scoring 12 points for the Saints.

Ashland, WI (February 16th, 2007)
    
The Women's Basketball team dropped a UMAC game to Northland College 42-50 in Ashland, Wisconsin. Scoring for the Saints was Junior, Callie Antonsen who scored 13 points followed by freshman, Chelsea Brandlee who added 12 points. This is only the third UMAC loss for the Saints this year.

Aberdeen, SD (February 10th, 2007)
     Junior, Callie Antonsen scored 27 points to take the Saints over Martin Luther College in UMAC play. Also scoring for the Saints was senior, Holly Novstrup who scored 16 points followed by freshman, Chelsea Stanley who added 10 points. The Saints led at half time 40-21 and shot 44.4% from the field, 42.3% from the three point line, and 82.1% from the free throw line. The Saints are now 11-10 overall and 9-2 in the UMAC.

Aberdeen, SD (February 9th, 2007)
   
Callie Antonsen scored 31 points in tonight's game against Bethany Lutheran College. The Saints fell to the Knights 67-79. The Saints led at half time by a score of 35-34 but it was not enough to outlast BLC. Freshman, Chelsea Brandlee scored 12 points followed by fellow freshman, Maggie Kuhlman who added 10 points. The Saints are now 8-2 in the UMAC and will face the Martin Luther College Knights tomorrow at 3:00pm.

Aberdeen, SD (February 3rd, 2007)
     PC Women's Basketball extended their winning streak to nine straight games when they defeated Northwestern College 64-61 in overtime. The Saints were led by Junior, Callie Antonsen who almost recorded a triple-double by scoring 21 points, bringing down 12 rebounds, and dishing out seven assists.  Also contributing for the Saints was Sophomore, Heidi Meier who scored 16 points as well as Seniors Holly Novstrup and Darcey Faulhaber who added 12 points each. The Saints are now 7-1 in the UMAC and 11-9 overall. 

Aberdeen, SD (February 2nd, 2007)
     The Women's Basketball team defeated Crown College 86-40 in the Strode Center. The Saints were led by Junior, Callie Antonsen who scored 19 points. Stepping up big for the Saints was Freshman, Chelsea Stanley who added 17 points followed by Senior, Holly Novstrup who scored 15 points. the Saints shot an impressive 52.5% from the field, 46.2% from the three point arc, and 66.7% from the free throw line. The Saints are now 10-9 overall and 6-1 in the UMAC.

St. Bonifacious, MN (January 27th, 2007)
    
The Saints women's basketball team climbed to the top of the UMAC by defeating Crown College 73-35.  The Saints were led by Sophomore Heidi Meier who scored 14 points. Freshman, Megan Jones scored 12 points followed by Senior, Holly Novstrup who added 10 points. The Saints shot 43.3% from the field, 33.3% from the arc, and 87.5% from the free throw line. The Saints are now 6-1 in the UMAC.

St. Paul, MN (January 26th, 2007)
     Junior, Callie Antonsen recorded a double-double on the Saints close victory against Northwestern College 63-60. Antonsen scored 19 points and brought down 10 rebounds followed by Senior, Holly Novstrup who scored 22 points. The Saints shot 44% from the field, 34.8% from the arc, and 73.3% from the free throw line. Senior, Darcey Faulhaber also added eight points and eight rebounds in the win.

Aberdeen, SD (January 23rd, 2007)
     Women's Basketball dominated Trinity Bible College 83-43 at home in the Strode last night. Junior, Callie Antonsen continued her impressive play as she posted 27 points in last nights game. Antonsen's 27 points was enough to allow her to score her 1,000th career point against the Lions. Also scoring for the Saints was Senior, Holly Novstrup who added 17 points. Freshman, Megan Jones came out strong off the bench scoring 11 points for the Saints while Senior, Darcey Faulhaber added 10. The Saints have won their fifth straight game and look to continue that streak this weekend as they face UMAC teams Northwestern College and Crown College on the road. 

Callie Antonsen named UMAC Player of the Week for second straight week. (January 23rd, 2007)
     Junior, Callie Antonsen was named UMAC Player of the Week for the second straight week. Antonsen led the Saints to another 2-0 UMAC weekend. Antonsen scored an impressive 20 points in the Saint's win over St. Scholastica and 25 points in the win over Northland College. Antonsen shot 59% from the field averaging 22.5 points per game over the weekend as well as tacking on six assists in each game.

Aberdeen, SD (January 20th, 2007)
     Junior Callie Antonsen came out strong and scored an impressive 25 points and dished out six assists to lead the Saints over Northland College 68-54. The Saints swept another UMAC weekend putting their current UMAC record at 4-1. Sophomore, Heidi Meier added 12 points for the Saints, followed by Senior Darcey Faulhaber who added 10 points. The Saints shot 45.5% from the field, 55.6% from the three point line, and 71.9% from the free throw line.

Aberdeen, SD (January 19th, 2007)
     Senior Forward, Holly Novstrup scored her 1,000th career point against the College of St. Scholastica. The Saints downed St. Scholastica 88-80 in the third conference win for the Saints. The Saints led at half 45-37 and jumped ahead of Scholastica by 20 points in the second half. Novstrup led the way for the Saints scoring 23 points. Junior, Callie Antonsen scored 20 points followed by Freshman Chelsea Brandlee who added 19. Senior, Katie Temple also came out strong for the Saints scoring 13 points. The Saints are now 3-1 in the UMAC.

Callie Antonsen named UMAC Player of the Week (January 16th, 2007)
    
Junior Forward, Callie Antonsen was named Women's Basketball UMAC Player of the Week. Last weekend in UMAC play, Antonsen helped the Saints beat both Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College to send their UMAC record to 2-1. Antonsen scored 16 points in the 68-45 win over MLC and recorded her career high 33 points in the Saints win over BLC 89-75. In the two games combined, Antonsen shot 47% from the field and 85% from the free throw line as well as 11 rebounds.

Mankato, MN (January 13th, 2007)
     The Saints women's basketball team swept the weekend going 2-0 in UMAC play. The Saints defeated Bethany Lutheran College in overtime to win 89-75. The Saints were led by Junior, Callie Antonsen who scored a career high 33 points to lead the Saints over BALK. Freshman, Chelsea Brandlee and Senior Holly Novstrup also added 17 points each for the Saints while Senior, Darcey Faulhaber grabbed down nine rebounds. The Saints led at half time, 35-29. The Saints out scored the Vikings in overtime 17-3 to win the game 89-75. The Saint are now 2-1 in UMAC action.

New Ulm, MN (January 12th, 2007)
    
Women's Basketball gains first UMAC win over the Martin Luther College Knights 68-45. The Saints were led by Senior, Holly Novstrup who scored 18 points. Junior, Callie Antonsen also added 16 points for the win. The Saints will face Bethany Lutheran College tomorrow at 3:00pm.

Aberdeen, SD (January 6th, 2007)
     Junior Callie Antonsen led the Saints with 11 points and eight rebounds. The Saint's struggled offensively, shooting only 23.8% from the field and were defeated Saturday by the Mount Marty College Lancers, 32-68. Freshman, Chelsea Brandlee also added seven points for the Saints. The Saints trailed at half time by 10 points, 31-21. The Saints shot 13.3% from behind the three point line and 90.9% from the free throw line.

Minneapolis, MN (December 30th, 2006)
     The Saints Women's Basketball team dropped a close game to the College of St. Catherine's Saturday, December 30th. The Saints were down four points at half time trailing by a score of 25-29. The Saints rallied back in the second half to send the game into overtime and lost by a last second shot at the buzzer to fall 76-78 in overtime. Four Saints players scored in double digits, led by Senior, Holly Novstrup who scored 25 points. Darcey Faulhaber also came out strong bringing down 11 rebounds and scoring 15 points. Callie Antonsen scored 17 points followed by Chelsea Brandlee who added 11 points for the Saints.

Aberdeen, SD (December 14th, 2006)
     The PC Women's Basketball team is giving back to the community this holiday season by adopting a family.  The Women's Basketball team raised over $2,000 in gifts that were donated by the community of Aberdeen as well as friends and family of the women's basketball program.  The Saints gave the gifts to a deserving family of four, mother Holly and her three children Keith (11 years old), DJ (4 years old), and Teneah (3 years old).  Coach Houdeshell said, "It touches our hearts to give back to others. It shows our student-athletes just how luck we really are."

The PC Women's Basketball team fell to Black Hills State University 60-80.  Junior Callie Antonsen led the Saints by scoring 26 points and five rebounds.  Senior Holly Novstrup also added 14 points for the Saints. The Saints next game will be December 30th when they travel to Minneapolis to face St. Catherine's.

Saints women's basketball fell to non-conference Minot State 37-64 on Sunday in the Strode Center. The Saints were led by Freshman Chelsea Brandlee who scored 17 points.  Senior Darcey Faulhaber also grabbed down nine rebounds. The Saints are now 2-6 on the year.

The women's basketball team dropped their first UMAC game of the season 56-66.  The Saints led at half time by a score of 31-27. Senior Darcey Faulhaber led the Saints with her first double-double of the year.  Faulhaber recorded 15 points and brought down 10 rebounds for the Saints.  Junior Callie Antonsen also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. 

Sioux Falls, SD (December 5th, 2006)
     Women's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Division II Augustana College 45-98.  The Saints were led by Junior Callie Antonsen who recorded her first double-double of the season.  Antonsen scored 15 points and brought down 10 rebounds.  Freshman Chelsea Brandlee also added 14 points for the Saints. The Saints are now 2-4 on the year and will kick off the UMAC season this Saturday against the University of MN Morris in the Strode Center at 3:00pm.

The Saints basketball team fell to Valley City State 51-66.  The Saints were led by Freshman Chelsea Brandlee who scored 19 points followed by Junior Callie Antonsen who added 16 points.  The Saints shot 29% from the field, 27% from behind the arc, and 63% from the free throw line. The Saints are currently 2-3 on the year. 

Marshall, MN (November 25th, 2006)
     Women's Basketball was defeated by Southwest Minnesota State University in non-conference action 52-76.  The Saints were led by Freshman, Chelsea Brandlee who scored 20 points.  Followed by Brandlee was senior, Holly Novstrup who added 11 points for the Saints.  Junior, Callie Antonsen was quiet from the field but brought down 10 rebounds and dished out six assists.  The Saints are now 2-2 on the year and look to face Valley City State in the Strode Center on Friday, December 1st.   

Minot, ND (November 21st, 2006)
     The PC Women's Basketball team fell to Minot State in non-conference action 56-82.  Junior Guard, Callie Antonsen led the Saints with 23 points and eight rebounds.  Senior Forward, Holly Novstrup and Sophomore Forward, Heidi Meier also added 10 points for the Saints.  The Saints shot 31% from the field, 44% from behind the arc, and only 67% from the free throw line.  The Saints are currently 2-1 on the year. 

Aberdeen, SD (November 18th, 2006)
     The Saints defeated Canadian Mennonite 100-46 in the Strode Center on Saturday, November 18th.  Senior Holly Novstrup and Freshman Ashley Semler led the Saints with 18 points each.  Senior Darcey Faulhaber also added 10 points for the win.  The Saints are currently 2-0 on the 2006 season and will face Minot State on Tuesday, November 21st in Minot, North Dakota at 7:00pm. 

Ellendale, ND (November 17th, 2006)
   
The Women's Basketball team won their first game of the 2006 season 83-42 over Trinity Bible College.  The Saints were led by Junior Callie Antonsen who had 21 points and nine rebounds.  Senior, Darcey Faulhaber scored 17 points and Sophomore, Heidi Meier added 14. 

Women's Basketball Pre-Season Poll (November 13th, 2006)
     The PC Women's Basketball team is ranked #1 in the 2006-2007 UMAC Women's Basketball Pre-Season Poll.  The Saints share the first place sport with the University of MN Morris.  This marks the second year that the Saints have been ranked first in the pre-season poll.  Last year the Saints won the UMAC Regular Season Championship crown with a 12-2 UMAC record and 18-11 overall record.  The Saints will kick off their 2006-2007 season this Friday, November 17th, when they play Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND.  The start time for the women is 5:30pm and the men's team will follow at 7:00pm.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Adam Houdeshell announces the addition of nine new basketball players to join the Saint's roster in 2006.  Coach Houdeshell welcomes the return of five players from 2006.  Seniors Holly Vogel, Darcey Faulhaber, and Katie Temple will return to help the Saints as well as, Junior Callie Antonsen and Sophomore Heidi Meier.  Some fresh talent to watch this season for the Saints will be freshman Chelsey Brandlee (Aberdeen, SD), Brittany Kohler (Valley City, ND), Ashley Semler (Wasilla, AK), and Maggie Kuhlman (Hardwick, MN).

     The Saints finished on an impressive note last season clinching the 2006-2007 UMAC Conference Championship title.  This feat is the first women's basketball conference championship in school history.  The Saints traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to defend their 2005-2006 USCAA National Tournament Championship Title where the Saints won the consolation bracket.
