Shannon Schlagel named head women's basketball coach at PC
ABERDEEN, S.D.--Athletic Director Rick Kline is pleased to announce the hiring of Shannon Schlagel as the head women's basketball coach at Presentation College.
Schlagel was previously a four-year starter for the South Dakota State University women's basketball team, graduating in 2005 as one fo the most decorated athletes in school history. Schlagel graduated as one of only two players to score 1,000 points and collect 1,000 rebounds during her career. She still holds the career scoring record of 1,887 points for the Jacks. Schlagel was also a two-time All-North Central Conference selection and was a key part of SDSU's National Championship team in 2003.
"I'm very excited and honored for the opportunity to coach the women's basketball team at Presentation College," Schlagel said. "I'm looking forward to working with the students to help them improve in the classroom, on the court, and as individuals."
Schlagel most recently served as the assistant girls' basketball coach at Clark High School during the past season.
"We are pleased to add such a successful coach and exceptional former collegiate athlete to our coaching staff," Kline said. "Shannon will be a terrific asset to not only our student-athletes, but our institution and the Aberdeen community as well."
