PC to host traditional Wacipi at Lakota Campus

EAGLE BUTTE, S.D.--Presentation College Lakota Campus will host a traditional Wacipi on Saturday, May 3, 2008, to celebrate the achievements of their students this year. All singers, dancers and royalty are invited to participate in the event at the Cheyenne River Youth Center in Eagle Butte.

"The Wacipi serves as a time to gather as a community and show our students support for the hard work and sacrifices they make in their pursuit of a college education," said Julie Thorstenson, director of the Lakota Campus.

Richard Charging Eagle will be the Master of Ceremonies and Derek Fiddler will be the Arena Director. The CRST Veterans Post #2 and all other visiting veterans will serve as color guards.

Admission to the event is free. The Grand Entrance begins at 1 p.m. mountain time. A free meal will be available at 6 p.m., and concessions will also be available for purchase. The PCLC Wacipi is a drug and alcohol-free event.
