MLT Club to host blood drive on campus

ABERDEEN, S.D. -- The Medical Laboratory Technology Club at Presentation College will host a blood drive Monday, Feb. 11, in conjunction with United Blood Services.

The drive is open to the public, and Terry Piatz, the MLT Program Director at PC, wants to encourage community members to participate.

"It’s an amazing feeling to know you could be saving a life," Piatz said. "There is always a great demand for blood products for our patients. This is a great opportunity to give back that doesn’t cost anything except a little of your time."

To be eligible, donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and cannot be currently taking antibiotics or have donated within the last eight weeks. Participants must also show photo identification to donate.

The blood drive will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Nursing Lab at Presentation. Participants can sign up for a time slot in advance by calling Piatz at 229-8526, or visiting the registration booth Feb. 4-8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the cafeteria doors. Walk-ins are also welcome.
