Presentation College faculty published in British journal
ABERDEEN, S.D. -- Presentation College Assistant Professor of History Dr. Brad Tennant recently published an article in American Nineteenth Century History, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Association of British American Nineteenth Century Historians (BrANCH).
Tennant’s article, titled "The 1864 Sully Expedition and the Death of Captain John Feilner," briefly discusses the 1863 and 1864 Sully Expeditions in the wake of the 1862 Minnesota Sioux Uprising. It was during the 1864 expedition that naturalist Captain John Feilner was ambushed and killed along the Little Cheyenne River after examining the landmark Medicine Rock, which is now housed at the Dakota Sunset Museum in Gettysburg, S.D. The article appears in the June 2008 issue.
Tennant gives presentations on a variety of topics related to state and regional history and is listed in the 2008 South Dakota State Humanities Council Speakers Bureau. Tennant can be reached at 229-8577.
