Presentation College Department of Nursing to host 14th annual Nursing Research Day
ABERDEEN, S.D. --The Presentation College Department of Nursing will host the 14th annual Nursing Research Day on March 18. The day-long conference is a collaboration with Avera St. Luke’s, Aberdeen Area Indian Health Services and the Rho Xi chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, an international nursing honor society.
The aim of the conference is to promote health and wellness in diverse settings through research. More than 100 nursing students and community members are expected to attend.
"Our goal was to create a platform for nursing researchers to present their findings," said Deb Davies, assistant professor of nursing at PC. "The event has continued to grow each year, and it’s an excellent way to stay current on trends in the field."
Research topics from this year’s presenters vary from stress and coping strategies of accelerated BSN students to cultural viewpoints and barriers of prenatal care, infant mortality and oncology. Presenters include Sr. Vicky Larson, RN, MS; Jessica Hanson, MA; Fred Cedar Face, BS; Amy Elliot, MS, PhD; and Julie West, RN, BSN.
The conference will begin with registration at 8 a.m. on March 18 in the Strode Activity Center. Conference fees, which include lunch, are $25 per person, $15 for students or $20 for Sigma Theta Tau members.
To register or for more information, contact the Presentation College Department of Nursing at 229-8472. The preferred deadline for registration is March 11, but participants will be able to register the day of the conference.
