Lakota Campus History

In 1979, Presentation College was
approached by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal
Council to provide education to its residents.
The Tribe was faced with a shortage of qualified
healthcare professionals specifically Registered
Nurses. The College's Mission Statement states
"the College responds to emerging needs and
conditions". To meet emerging need in this
community, the College began offering an Associate
Degree in Nursing in the Fall Semester of 1980.
The Lakota Campus has continued to
grow and flourish in the Eagle Butte community.
The College being responsive to the needs of the
community has added new degree offerings.
