Medical
Assisting at PC:
Graduates of Presentation College obtain an Associate Degree
of Science. The Associate Degree is two years in length,
which includes a supervised externship at a clinical
facility.
Online: Ask your admissions counselor about online
courses to obtain your degree!
Curriculum:
The Medical assistant curriculum consists of four semesters
of competency-based instruction and a nine-week supervised
externship. The supervised externship is established at an
approved facility by the college, cooperatively selected by
the student and the Medical Assistant faculty. Students do
not receive remuneration for their time at the facility.
Salaries for
Medical Assistants:
According to the
US Dept. of Labor, the range of salary for
medical assistants is $10-$15/hour. Salaries vary according
to experience, location and the type of facility in which
they are employed. Employment prospects are best for the
medical assistant with accredited formal training and
successfully passing the
national certification exam.
Did
You Know? Medical assistants are not nurse's aides! Medical assistants
have an associate of science degree, and can perform many
tasks in a healthcare setting.
Career Placement and Outlook:
100% of the graduates of the medical assisting program at PC
are either employed in their field or are furthering their
education. Due to the increase in healthcare costs and the
diversity the medical assistant has to offer to the
healthcare profession, the demand for medical assistants is
increasing. Recent statistics show that by the year 2010,
most healthcare facilities will employ medical assistants
that currently do not.
