Sioux Falls artist Kevin Bierbaum returns to the Presentation College Wein Gallery for his second solo exhibit, which runs from January through February. Bierbaum last exhibited his abstract painting at the Wein Gallery in 2011.
According to the Midwest Fine Art Exchange, “Bierbaum’s work stands out for its ability to convey meaning through color rather than form. This allows a viewer to focus on the subtle patterns in the paint’s texture and application as well as the vividness of color as it plays off of varying depths of white. Kevin’s work is a reminder that minimalist painting is ironically quite realistic–the subject being the painting itself.”
Bierbaum began his life in southern Germany before settling in southwestern Minnesota and now South Dakota. Bierbaum is highly regarded as one of very few minimalist painters in this region.
The Wein Gallery is located on the second floor of the campus’ main building. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m.
