ABERDEEN, S.D. – Presentation College accommodated area high school students who attended Avera St. Luke’s health academy June 3-7. The academy exposed students to a number of different career opportunities, from physical therapy to nursing, to encourage young students to consider a career in the health field industry.
The program welcomed 31 students this year living within a 100-mile radius of Aberdeen. The academy split into two separate sessions. Each ran three days, during which time students were accommodated with housing, meals, and evening entertainment on the Presentation College campus in Aberdeen.
The students also got a full tour of the PC Cadaver and Nursing Laboratories led by Trisha Waldman and Diana Hayes.
“The 2013 Health Academy was a great experience, especially it being my first year,” said Jessica Peterson. “The students brought a lot of energy and kick. PC is happy to work side by side with Avera to provide such an experience to these students’ futures!”
