PC Surgical Technology program receives award

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Surgical Technology program at Presentation College was awarded the 2012 Galaxy Star Program Award by the Association of Surgical Technologists, a professional organization for surgical technologists and surgical assistants.

The award signifies that the school’s program promotes their students future success in the field by encouraging memberships in their national professional organization- The Association of Surgical Technologists. The award is presented to surgical technology programs that have 75 percent or more of their students registered as members of AST.

In addition to receiving the award, the college’s program received special recognition at the national conference this past May and will be listed in the Surgical Technologist Journal. PC also was awarded an Amazon.com gift card from AST to use for materials and resources to enhance the surgical technology program, and a certificate of recognition.

“Being awarded with the Galaxy Star means that Presentation College Surgical Technology Program cares about the profession of surgical technology and wants to continue to see the profession grow,” said Toni Shantz, Surgical Technology Program Coordinator. “We are proud to be recognized as a Galaxy Star.”
